Each state has different requirements for becoming a licensed esthetician. The state of Florida requires individuals interested in a skincare profession to find a school approved by the state (preferably one that is accredited so you can apply for financial aid*), complete a certain amount of required training hours, take a state board exam to show your knowledge, and lastly, apply for your license.
At Artistic Nails & Beauty Academy, our skincare program can help you turn that passion into an exciting career. We offer the program at both our Lakeland and Tampa campuses, so you can gain the skills you need to become a licensed esthetician in Florida at whichever location is most convenient.
But before you get that far, let’s start with some basics!
What Do Estheticians Do?
An esthetician is a professional who specializes in the beautification of the skin. They can perform cosmetic skin treatments like facials, chemical peels, body treatments, and hair removal. If you’re someone who loves helping others feel great, pursuing a future in esthetics can be a great choice.
After experiencing a global pandemic, self-care feels more important than ever. People of all ages are investing in home skincare products, as well as spa treatments. These opportunities give skincare specialists the ability to give advice on at-home routines and provide skin services to people who want healthy, beautiful skin.
The skincare program at our school is designed to prepare you to sit for the state board exam, obtain licensure, and begin a career in the beauty industry.
Here is just some of what our skin care curriculum covers:
- The Skin and Its Functions
- Disorders of Skin; Special Esthetic Procedures
- Chemistry for the Facial Student
- Facial Massage and Mask Therapy
- Facial Treatments With and Without Machines
- Waxing, Tweezing, and Hair Removal
- Makeup Techniques
- And more!
