Financial Aid Options for Beauty School
Financial aid is available to those who qualify.
We all know that sometimes a secondary education can be costly. Yet many of us have heard about the importance of continuing our education after high school. How are we expected to afford that? Hope is not lost! If your goals include a beauty education, then we have some useful information on financial aid for those who qualify.
Types of Federal Student Aid
Federal Student Aid offers over 150 billion dollars to students each year in the form of grants, scholarships, and loans. Here is a little more information on the types of aid you may receive.
Grants and Scholarships
Private grants and scholarships are available for students all around the country for those interested in beauty and barbering. These types of financial aid are often called “gift aid”. This type of financial aid is optimal because it’s essentially free money that doesn’t need to be repaid.
Grants are often given on “need-based” situations, and scholarships are based on merits. To apply for a grant you can start by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). This is how you can see if you qualify for any government grants.
Scholarships are also a great way to help pay for your education. Here are a couple of great places to look for scholarships!

Loans
There are still plenty more ways to help pay for your dream education! Subsidized and unsubsidized loans are available for eligible students. If you want to apply for a loan you’ll first have to fill out a FAFSA® form. This will determine how much student aid you’re eligible to receive.
To learn more about which type of loan you should apply for, see studentaid.ed.gov.
Who Gets Student Aid?
There are a lot of determining factors in who is eligible for student aid. Everyone must meet basic requirements to be able to qualify. Other students may need extra eligibility to apply.
There are a few different requirements a student must meet to be eligible for financial aid. You’ll need to:
- Have a high school diploma, completed home school education, or have a GED certificate.
- Be accepted or enrolled as a student in a degree or certificate program.
- If you’re a male between the ages of 18 and 25, be registered with US Selective Service System.
- Have a valid social security card.
- Follow the rules of your FAFSA® statement.
- Maintain satisfactory progress in your education.
- Be a US citizen OR have a green card OR have an arrival-departure record OR have battered immigrant status OR have a T-visa.
How Do I Apply for Federal Student Aid?
The first step in the process is taking time to sit down and fill out a FAFSA® form. It’s a straightforward process that will help you get started in the right direction. It’s definitely worth your time to see if student aid is a possibility for your future education, and it’s completely free.
