Hot Hair Color Trend – From Hot Pink to Bright Blue, Vibrant Hair Colors Are All The Rage

Hot Hair Color Trend

Move over blonde, brunette, raven and red, vibrant hair colors are in vogue. Hot pink, blue and other non-traditional colors are what’s in, as being sported by big name celebs like Jenny McCarthy, Kaley Cuoco and Kelly Ripa. Orange may be the new black, but pink, blue, and purple, are the new hair colors of choice!

The Trend in Vibrant Hair Colors

Musical stars such as Pink and Katie Perry have been at the forefront of the vibrant hair color trend. Singer Nicki Minaj is famous for her pink locks at many of her performances or out in public. This Hollywood trend is making its way into the mainstream as more individuals are looking for ways to express their personal style and express themselves with a new, bold look.

The new way to express yourself can cost between $150 to $300 at most salons, and can lead to a permanent look for you. Women of all ages are getting in on the trend and it is leading to other forms of expression and experimentation. This includes spot treatments and adding color to hair extensions.

Balancing Creativity with Longevity

The new vibrant colors can add to the creative repertoire of your hairstylists. The trend also offers a challenge in finding ways to not only match the proper color with your look and personality, but also make sure that it lasts as long as possible. The introduction of retail shampoos can cause discoloration or splotchy, uneven hair. Combination dye molecules that involve direct and oxidated color helps you maintain that vibrant look, and can insure against fading for as long as you want to keep your new style.

Try something bold and new. For a refreshing change to your regular wash, cut and color, think pink, think green, think purple. Incorporate some color that represents an extension of your free spirit and boldness. and see what happens!

Re-entering The Workforce – Starting A New Career

Re-entering The Workforce

If the plan doesn't work change the plan but never the goal

If you have been out of the workforce for a while, perhaps to raise a family or fulfill other obligations, it can be a little daunting. Don’t let your confidence wane; practice some daily habits that will foster the esteem needed to go out and get a job. These tips are often used by those individuals that are considered successful in professional, corporate, and other notable career fields.

Some useful ways to get back into the grind include these:

Set goals.

Think about your life in terms of goals. Set goals with both the short and the long term in mind. For instance, think of one thing you can do every day that will contribute toward achieving a part of a five-year goal. An example might be to spend an hour each day writing in order to achieve a five-year plan that involves publishing your first book.

Make lists.

Lists are a great way to stay on task, get stuff done, and derive a sense of accomplishment by checking things off. Start each day with a list; create a column of work tasks that you want to get done as well as personal chores. If it doesn’t look like something is going to get done today, go ahead and put it at the top of tomorrow’s list.

Create a vision board.

Many successful people claim that in order to achieve success, you must first visualize it. You can make your own vision board, collecting pictures, papers, and trinkets that articulate the things that you want out of life. Keep the board in a place where you will see it every day.

Aim high.

When coming in to the workforce after a hiatus, some people may underestimate their value in the job market. Aim high. Apply for positions that may seem a bit out of reach. Some employers will admire this ambition and reward you with an offer.

Affirm yourself daily.

Successful people start out every day with positive affirmations. These may be simple statements said out loud or quietly to yourself that affirm and reaffirm your positive attributes, traits, and qualities. Try to re-frame negative thoughts into constructive, positive comments whenever possible.

Adopt habits that will make goals into realities. Compose lists, visualize your success, and reach for the stars. Be sure to use positive self-talk and affirmations to build confidence and foster success, in whatever you choose to do.

Barbershops Building a Community

Barbershops Building a Community

A Look at the Unique Effect Barbershops Have on a Local Population

Barbershops Building a Community

Barbershops are more than just a place to get a haircut. Rather, history tells us that the barbershop has long played a significant role in community and culture, particularly for African Americans. In fact, barbershops were one of the first establishment types that allowed African Americans to pursue entrepreneurship.

Today, barbershops continue to be an important part of the local economy and community. From healthcare promotion to positive community outreach to economic oomph, the significance of the barbershop shouldn’t be overlooked.

Promoting Healthcare at the Local Level

One of the most notable aspects of a barbershop is its ability to double as a place where promotion of healthcare practices takes place. The Black Barbershop Health Outreach Program has reached more than 10,000 men across the nation, helping to raise awareness about disease prevention. What’s more, as of 2015, barbershops across L.A. have begun doubling as doctors’ offices.

Positive Community Outreach

But barbershops aren’t just a place where people can learn about their health. They also serve as areas of trust and appreciation, particularly amongst men. This social connection can be empowering, and many local barbers are beginning to use conversations within barbershops as an opportunity to make positive social change. For example, one barbershop in Kentucky doubles as a workforce re-entry program. Others across the country work to build positive relationships between dads and their children, and yet others focus on issues like men’s health, employment, and education.

The Economic Significance of Local Barbershops

Of course, local barbershops—and localized businesses in general—also need to be recognized for the major economic impact they have on their communities. Locally owned barbershops help to provide jobs and wages, drive economic competition, keep money circulating within a local system, and help to stimulate economic growth.

How You Can Get Involved?

Barbershops are one of the most historically influential business types in America. If you’re thinking about becoming a barber as a career choice and have questions, we can provide you with answers. To learn more, call us today to get started.

Seriously Styling Moms for Mothers’ Day

Styling Moms

You’ve always taken pride in your ability to maintain your own personal style and sophistication through many challenges and opportunities during your life. Never compromising, you’ve conquered, and quite often you’ve employed your style as part of your set of secret weapons to accomplish your goals.

We Are Styling Moms

However, becoming a mother sets up a whole new series of challenges. One of the most common is to find time to just be able to do the basic tasks. But when it comes to your hair motherhood does not mean you have to resign yourself to a frumpy cut or a boring old ponytail.

With a bit of preplanning you can set yourself up with just the right cut that will allow you to maintain your style with minimal requirements on your time. The key here is practicality. Ask your stylist for a cut that will minimize the use of product, heat and air.

Fortunately you also do not have to be concerned that there is only that one-size-fits-all cut for moms. Your know your own style and you should not feel compelled to forgo that to be the stylish mom you know you can be.

Shorter Hair Styles

For the styling moms that prefer a shorter style, request your stylist to give you a slightly longer version of the pixie cut. You can also add some side swept bangs for flair. This cut takes no time in the morning and is easy to maintain between touch-ups.

Medium To Longer Hair Styles

If your style calls for medium long hair request your stylist for minimal to no layers. For a great look with this cut add some volume at the roots before smoothing the rest. And finally, for those preferring the youthful look of longer locks, request your stylist for long layers to animate your hair around your face.

The longer look might surprise you as one of the easier to style by yourself. Just blow dry with a large round brush, and if time allows you can add a few touch-ups to the ends with a flat iron. Or if you want to show off your natural waves apply a sea salt spray along the length to the ends, scrunch, and let it air dry. Talk about a time saver!

So, indeed, with a bit of planning, with practicality in mind, you could be seriously styling this coming mothers’ day.

How To Become An Esthetician

As summer approaches we can’t help but think about skin care, especially here in sunny Florida. Taking care of your skin in the summer months is critical and the more time we spend outside, the more we increase our chances of problem skin. Even with the application of the proper sun screens and moisturizers, there is nothing like getting a facial.

Have you ever wondered about the person giving you that facial? How would your world look if you were an esthetician? Well, hopefully we can show you what it’s like and how you can become a skin care specialist.

What Do Estheticians Do?

The esthetician field provides a number of treatments designed to improve skin. In the beauty business this discipline is focused on skin care and has grown rapidly in the past few years as more and more people are finding it important to improve the appearance of their skin. Some of the following are procedures you will learn and perform as an esthetician:

  • Facials
  • Exfoliation Treatments
  • Microdermabrasion
  • Waxing
  • Facial Massages
  • Body Wraps
  • Hair Removal

Most importantly you will be providing skin care regimes to your clients and helping them understand how to properly care for their skin.

How To Become An Esthetician

How Sports Fans Use Hair Design To Support Their Teams

USF Bulls and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hair Design

Artistic Nails & Beauty Student Hair Design – Barber Program

With March Madness starting on March 17, and the opening of the MLB season right around the corner, sports fans want to show off their team spirit. What better way than to have the logo of a favorite team shaved into the back or side of your head? Barbers and hair stylists are artists in their own rights with the ability to manipulate hair into many different designs.

Any design can be shaved into the hair on your head. You’re not limited to logos. Many people have the images of players designed on their heads or even in their facial hair. The names of a team or the image of a mascot are also options to show off your love of the sport

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hair Design

2012 Artistic Nails & Beauty Student – Barber Program

Take your hair design one step further with beautiful hair art colors. A special color spray goes on easily and washes out when you’re ready to clean up. It’s not like a traditional hair spray, but a product that goes on like a powder, so it won’t mess up the clippers. Use the colors of your favorite team to highlight the design and really get into the action.

It just takes a few minutes more than a normal haircut, so make sure to allow some extra time to get a sports design. Once the games are over, it’s easy to have the design shaved off with a pair of clippers, so you can go back to a professional and classic look. Or, if you like, you can choose to keep it until your hair grows out.

There are few limits to which designs can be shaved in your hair. It just takes a talented barber or hair stylist willing to take the time to learn new trends in the industry to transform you into a sports fanatic. This modern and ornate hair styling is a great way to show your personality.

Valentine’s Day Isn’t Just For Romance – It’s For Love. Do You Have A Career Worth Loving?

A Career Worth Loving

Nothing is worse than the feeling you have when you are trudging to work each day and you’re dreading what’s to come. That’s why having a career you love, working in an open, collaborative, friendly environment, is of utmost importance as you face being a productive member of the workforce for the next several decades. If you love interacting with others and making them feel good about themselves, perhaps you’d be perfect in the beauty and barber school field.

A Career Worth Loving?

From personal to financial benefits, having a job that you love going to each and every day fills you with a sense of self-worth you can’t get anywhere else. If you’re not cut out for the four-year-college-nine-to-five traditional job, getting unique education and training through barber and beauty school can be extremely beneficial to you. Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romantic love — it’s about being in love with your life. This involves your personal life, sure, but it also affects your professional life as well. People who love going to work every day report more feelings of happiness and self-esteem, with fewer incidents of depression and higher rates of production and engagement, according to the Harvard Business Review.

Loving What You Do Every Day

There are many reasons loving what you do every day is beneficial. Here are a few, according to Business News Daily:

  • Higher self-esteem, with more likelihood of being rewarded by your boss and your clients
  • The ability to push through the tough times when they do arise
  • Add value to the workplace through motivation and more productive work ethic
  • Better overall health due to reduced stress in daily living
  • Gain the respect of coworkers and clients
  • Make more money and get more frequent raises.

Working In the Beauty & Barber Field

Working in the beauty and barber field in particular offers more rewards than other fields, simply because you are more actively engaged in the people you service on a daily basis. Not only can you help young and old feel better about themselves, you also take something away from those interactions that makes you feel good too. Working just one day at a job you hate — or worse, your entire 50-year working life — is no way to live. Grab what you want.
